About The Position

As an Assistant Chief Engineer at JLL, you'll take ownership of the operation, inspection, and maintenance of critical building systems with minimal supervision, while helping to shape a team culture where collaboration and technical excellence go hand in hand. Working closely with the Chief Engineer, you'll lead maintenance processes for mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment while providing direction and mentorship to engineering staff. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll solve complex problems, respond to tenant needs, and ensure building systems operate reliably and efficiently.

Requirements

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of related work experience in repair, maintenance, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or carpentry
  • Universal EPA certification or commitment to achieving certification within first year with JLL assistance
  • Demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience with ability to guide and develop team members
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work comfortably using ladders up to 30 feet tall
  • Ability to frequently climb, bend, kneel, lift, and/or drive as required by facility operations

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school education, union training, military service, or college coursework in related technical field
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Sheets for reporting and documentation
  • Experience with Building Management Systems (BMS) and building automation platforms

Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned maintenance tasks including painting, pressure washing, maintaining lighting systems (bulbs/ballasts as allowed by licensing), plumbing repairs, HVAC system maintenance, water treatment, locksmith work, and general facility upkeep
  • Assist in supervising and implementing the preventative maintenance program to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime
  • Maintain the work order system (CMMS) daily and complete tenant service requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Provide training and supervision to expand the technical capabilities of the engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement
  • Support on-call or emergency response situations as needed, troubleshooting building systems to restore operations quickly
  • Troubleshoot all building systems including electrical, DDC and pneumatic controls, diagnosing issues and implementing effective solutions
  • Comply with all safety procedures and participate in ongoing technical, safety, and operational training programs to stay current with industry best practices
