About The Position

Primary Purpose: Administer direct/indirect occupational therapy to students with mental, physical, or emotional disabilities under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist, so students may benefit from their special educational program.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy assistant program
  • Completed the certification examination for occupational therapy assistant and licensed by the State of Texas as an occupational therapist assistant
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation procedures, activities, and equipment used in occupational therapy
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pediatrics and/or school-based therapy preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Administer direct/indirect occupational therapy to students with mental, physical, or emotional disabilities under the supervision of a registered occupational therapist
  • Supervision of motor technician as delegated by supervising occupational therapist
