Responsible for the supervision and monitoring of all center activities to ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and state licensing regulations. Assists all center staff in providing an environment conducive to learning for young children. Provides supervisory leadership and planning to enhance teamwork among staff in the center.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of HS Performance Standards and ensure implementation of them.
  • Ensure that child development principles are being implemented in all component areas by monitoring classrooms and playgrounds daily.
  • Assists with supervision of all center staff.
  • Participates with screening and hiring of center staff.
  • Monitors and coordinates center activities.
  • Responsible for requisition of all supplies, materials and equipment for the center by designated due dates.
  • Monitors staff training outcomes in staff development portfolio, assists in developing staff development plans.
  • Coordinates training and technical assistance with Center Director and management staff concerning center needs and strengthening areas of weakness identified through monitoring activities.
  • Assists in the planning of monthly Family Fun Nights with all center staff and Family Fun Night parent committee.
  • Maintains high standards of professional ethics as defined in DAEOC Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual in regard to children, parents, staff, and community representatives.
  • Recruits and welcomes parent and community volunteers.
  • Promotes and enhances teamwork among staff.
  • Responsible for overall operation of the center in Center Director’s absence.
  • Responsible for maintaining state licensing guidelines.
  • Responsible for monitoring all health/safety issues pertaining to the center.
  • Responsible for implementing and attaining all goals and objectives of the Head Start Program.
  • Monitors all education, health, nutrition, SS, special needs and MH files on a weekly/monthly basis.
  • Observes classrooms on a daily basis.
  • Shares overall responsibility of ensuring Center reaches and maintains required enrollment with Center Director.
  • Shares responsibility for bus routes and scheduling pick up/drop off of children with Center Director.
  • Monitors bus routes and rides each bus a minimum of once per month and more often if problems are identified.
  • Approves in-town field trips in absence of Center Director.
  • As a mandated reporter, makes immediate referrals pertaining to suspected child abuse/neglect and/or substance abuse.
  • Responsible for collecting and submitting H/MH/SN/Ed/SS/Enrollment/InKind/PI reports to appropriate management staff by designated due date.
  • Approves and processes field trip requests to Ed Specialist (2 weeks prior to out of town trips) per Agency policy.
  • Responsible for working closely with Center and Central Office staff to monitor the new and returning enrollees forms throughout the year.
  • Schedules, with CFP assistance, health, education and nutrition center committee meetings.
  • Must be punctual and arrive and leave at the Center at the scheduled times.
  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team meeting to develop and implement Head Start Individualized education program as requested by Special Needs Specialist.
  • Treats children, families, staff and community partners with respect and professionalism.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and uses positive language.
  • Follows DAEOC/Head Start Program policies and procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding children, families, and staff at all times.
  • Become knowledgeable of Head Start Performance Standards and ensure implementation.
  • Reports all incidents of child abuse observed or discovered pursuant to mandated reporter requirements and the guidelines of the Head Start Program, DAEOC, and State Regulations.
  • Shares Responsibility for filling enrollment vacancies and maintaining Center enrollment with Center Director.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A/S.) from a four-year college or university in Early Childhood Guidance or related area; or five years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
