About The Position

The Assistant Manager is a full-time leadership position that combines direct resident care with the supervision and mentorship of the caregiving team. Working alongside staff on the floor, this role ensures shift efficiency and consistent care standards. Schedule & On-Call Expectations This is an on-site position with a standard schedule of Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Coverage of the after-hours support line alternates between the Assistant Manager and the Director of Programming weekly (Friday - Friday). This role leads the response to urgent situations as they arise. Any hours worked during call rotation (evenings or weekends) are 100% offset with flexible scheduling during the same or following week to ensure your total hours remain balanced.

Requirements

  • Two or more years of experience within the caregiving, hospice, or long-term care industry
  • One or more years in a supervisory or lead role, with a proven ability to mentor staff and foster a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written skills; ability to present ideas clearly and constructively
  • Strong ability to multitask, work independently, and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Trustworthy with a commitment to confidentiality and the organization's mission
  • Empathy for residents and families navigating end-of-life transitions and the emotional resilience to lead in a hospice setting
  • Employment is contingent upon completing a drug screening, TB test, and background check

Nice To Haves

  • CNA certification and fluency in a second language may enhance your effectiveness in this role

Responsibilities

  • Manage shift communication and workflow; provide real-time coaching and report staff needs to the Director of Programming
  • Publish monthly staff schedule and approve shift adjustments
  • Lead staff development sessions and organizational meetings as needed
  • Monitor departmental performance, enforce safety protocols, and manage inventory reporting
  • Provide direct care to residents and ensure high-quality service delivery during shifts
  • Manage hospice partner relationships to ensure care plans align with the Home's policies and operational standards
  • Represent the Home through tours, committee participation, and community engagement
  • Participate in on-call rotations and work at least one weekend per month
