THE ROLE The Assistant/Associate Buyer works closely with the Buying Team and is responsible for development, sourcing, procurement, and maintenance of merchandise by performing the following duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year College / Three-Four years within Legends Global Merchandise.
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year College or four years related retail experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This position requires that the person be highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Strong computer skills are a must.
  • Use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and comfortable use of Internet is necessary.
  • Must have excellent data entry skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to understand and follow work processes.
  • Ability to handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts, or otherwise negotiating with others.
  • The ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them over time.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze sales and make chase buying decisions based on projections while considering budget and product lifecycle.
  • Plan future year’s assortment plans during current year using sales history, future projections and considering opportunities to expand the business.
  • Assist with sourcing, product development, art requests, and product approval process.
  • Works with vendors to get the best cost and PO terms to increase the bottom line
  • Work with Sr. Program Coordinator to make sure all new items are online
  • Act as the escalation POC for accounting to resolve PO or invoice discrepancies.
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism in a team structure both internally, with vendors and clients.
  • Must be creative, problem solving and a critical thinker.
  • Position requires hours at a computer entering and analyzing data which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Position may require travel to events with exposure to the climate, dust, odors, and noise. Events require long hours.
  • Other duties may be assigned
