The Assistant Buyer role is designed for a motivated individual who will participate in vendor selections and partnerships, assisting in the monitoring of inventory productivity and analysis of vendor profitability. This position involves providing data and analysis for price changes and assisting in entering those changes online. The Assistant Buyer will engage in core merchandising responsibilities, including attending market appointments, assisting the buyer with preliminary market preparation, bulk orders, and ad hoc allocations. They will also participate in reviews with the Divisional Merchandise Manager (DMM) and manage the timely placement and maintenance of purchase orders. In addition, the Assistant Buyer will execute pricing strategies based on promotional cadences, project and manage receipts for vendors to ensure company sales plans and inventory targets are met, and build and maintain ship sheets for monthly forecasts. They will pull and review reporting, identifying opportunities based on business trends and class performance, and assist with in-season management for the brand portfolio, including dropship, re-orders, RTVs, swaps, and markdowns. The role also involves providing analysis to support merchandise strategy and assisting in product selection while monitoring industry trends and evaluating competition. The Assistant Buyer will support financial planning and markdowns by communicating business opportunities and liabilities during Open-to-Buy (OTB) meetings, supporting the markdown projection process, and participating in the review of departmental topside financial plans. They will partner with various teams, including the digital lifecycle team and the Bangalore Merchandising team, to ensure accurate product listings and oversee item lifecycles. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, making it essential for the Assistant Buyer to manage ambiguity well and generate innovative problem-solving approaches.
