About The Position

Urban Outfitters is looking for an Assistant Buyer to join the Beauty team who will be responsible for assisting the buyer to create an exciting and timely product assortment for the retail and direct businesses that meet or exceed the sales volume and profit for the department. We are looking for someone who has an eye for beauty trends and strong business acumen.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years experience in buying role from a larger scale brand or company
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the Urban Outfitters target customer and the ability to select the appropriate product/trend that will appeal to the customer and meet their expectations.
  • Fundamental understanding of the statistical components of the business (IMU%, MD%, GM%, selloff, WOS, etc.) and the OTB.
  • Exhibit a professional communication style (both verbal and written) as shown through strong presentation skills, excellent organizational skills and a high sense of urgency.
  • The ability to prioritize tasks in order to balance the immediate and long term needs of the business with a high sense of urgency.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and the ability to learn new computer systems quickly and retain the information.
  • Strong communication, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize projects and multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to grasp multiple systems quickly
  • Detail oriented
  • Creative thinker

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the daily operations within designated buying area and developing partnerships with the assistant or associate buyer on all necessary tasks
  • Managing the flow of merchandise and updating merchant boards
  • Rudimentary understanding of retail math
  • Sharing and communicating thoughts/opinions to managers or business groups as a whole
  • Help to maintain accurate Buy Sheets by class
  • Entering, updating, managing, tracking, and organizing purchase orders in all systems (MTS, IP and Blue Cherry) to ensure timely delivery
  • Ensuring accuracy in all systems
  • Communicating late deliveries to the buying and sales team
  • Developing cross functional relationships with market and internal partners
  • Prioritizing and reacting with a sense of urgency to the requests from both the merchant and cross functional teams
  • Organizing and cataloguing samples
