About The Position

Beautiful 3-story apartment building in excellent condition. Senior citizen independent living. We are searching for a hands-on maintenance person to be part of a small 2-person crew in maintaining this beautiful senior citizen apartment building located in Los Angeles. Compensation includes a 1-bedroom unit

Requirements

  • Residential maintenance or handyman experience required
  • Experience in construction or as a contractor is a plus
  • Working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, pumps, etc.)
  • Must be a self-starter with strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Comfortable working independently and within a small team
  • Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Proficient in basic computer tasks (Microsoft Office, internet)
  • Able to take direction and learn new skills
  • Valid CA driver’s license, clean driving record, and current auto insurance
  • Must pass background and credit checks
  • Commitment to a drug-free workplace (zero-tolerance policy)
  • Availability to work occasional weekends and holidays
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb ladders/stairs, and reach for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. safely and repeatedly
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools, equipment, and small machinery
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to access confined spaces, rooftops, and other hard-to-reach areas as needed
  • Must be able to visually inspect work and hear/respond to resident requests or alarms

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and handyman tasks across the building
  • General cleaning throughout the building
  • Repair and install plumbing fixtures (faucets, toilets, disposals), drains (snaking and unclogging), light fixtures, stove burners, and more
  • Diagnose and resolve maintenance issues quickly and effectively
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify repair or replacement needs
  • Support unit turns (cleaning, patching, painting, and light renovations)
  • Assist with maintaining major building systems (pumps, boilers, HVAC)
  • Work professionally with vendors and contractors
  • Provide exceptional service to senior residents in a courteous and respectful manner
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management
