About The Position

The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful operation of a retail branch office in the absence of the Branch Manager. This role focuses on serving and satisfying credit union members, managing daily operations, and providing leadership to staff. The position requires strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make independent decisions regarding member transactions and operational issues.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years supervisory experience, preferably in a financial institution.
  • Must meet the eligibility requirements for NMLS.
  • PC proficiency required.
  • Strong people skills and a knack for problem solving.
  • Ability to travel within regional branch network as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Serve and satisfy credit union members by resolving problems and responding to complaints.
  • Open and close assigned branch location and oversee daily operations in the absence of the Branch Manager.
  • Assist in delivering a professional branch image, including employee appearance and cleanliness of the branch.
  • Make independent judgmental decisions regarding member transactions and operational issues.
  • Create and modify employee schedules to meet member traffic flow demands.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to staff members, ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Assist with training new employees on systems and credit union policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a mentor for staff members, focusing on sales and service.
  • Adhere to policies in delegating, assigning, and training employees; communicate job performance periodically.
  • Conduct monthly one-on-one coaching sessions with team members and provide feedback.
  • Provide monthly feedback to the Branch Manager on staff supervision and coaching.
  • Prepare various monthly reports, including branch and teller cash audits.
  • Perform transactions relevant to balancing the branch and quality control of transactions.
  • Communicate any teller or branch out of balance condition of $500 or more to relevant parties.
  • Process and quality control loan documents and perform platform duties as needed.
  • Maintain professional knowledge by attending workshops and participating in professional societies.
  • Complete periodic training/certification for Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Perform miscellaneous back office duties and other tasks as assigned.
