About The Position

This position is for an Assistant Boys' Golf Coach for the 2026-27 season. The coach will assist the Head Coach in providing direction for student athletes, specifically coaching junior varsity and/or freshman squads. Responsibilities also include guiding Middle School coaches and programs that feed into the High School, assisting the Head Coach in determining athlete participation during practice and games, and operating within District, Conference, and SDHSAA policies. The Assistant Coach is responsible for supervising students in locker rooms, play areas, and during travel, providing first aid when necessary, and managing equipment issuance, care, maintenance, and inventory. Required qualifications include a High School Diploma or GED, successful completion of First Aid for Coaches and Fundamentals of Coaching or their equivalents as defined by South Dakota High School Activities Association, and the physical ability to perform tasks requiring eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, bending, stooping, walking, talking, and sitting. A Bachelor’s degree in Education and one year of previous coaching experience are preferred.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Eye-hand, mind-eye coordination, physical dexterity, the ability to bend, stoop, walk, talk, and sit.
  • Successful completion of First Aid for Coaches and Fundamentals of Coaching or their equivalents as defined by South Dakota High School Activities Association.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education preferred.
  • One year of previous coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in issuing equipment, caring for and maintaining it, and inventorying it at end of season.
  • Cares for and maintains equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
