About The Position
The Assistant Boys Basketball Coach position at Centennial Middle School is designed to support the Head Coach in organizing and conducting the athletic program, ensuring that participants receive valuable learning experiences. The Assistant Coach will perform various delegated duties assigned by the Head Coach, including implementing the planned system and style of play, enforcing athletic regulations, and proposing improvements to the program. The Assistant Coach is expected to maintain active supervision during all scheduled activities, including games, practices, and transportation. A thorough knowledge of skill development, training techniques, fundamentals, game strategy, and the rules of basketball is essential. The position also emphasizes the importance of professional development, requiring the Assistant Coach to continually improve their knowledge and skills related to coaching. In addition to coaching responsibilities, the Assistant Coach will be responsible for the care, distribution, and collection of District equipment and supplies. Effective communication with athletes, parents, and staff is crucial, as is the ability to foster a respectful and positive environment. The Assistant Coach will also handle program finances in accordance with District practices and report any conduct that jeopardizes the safety of participants. Attendance at required meetings and adherence to interscholastic policies and procedures are also key components of this role.
