We are hiring an Assistant Behavior Intervention Specialist for our Day Habilitation Services on Nostrand Avenue in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn. YAI's Day Programs are designed to assist people to acquire, retain or improve their self-help, socialization and adaptive skills, including communication, travel and other areas in adult education. Activities and environments are designed to foster the development of life skills, and adaptation to appropriate social behavior; all to achieve greater independence. The day program focuses on community inclusion through volunteer work, healthy relationship building, promoting self-advocacy and making informed decisons. Job Description The ABIS works directly with people in their home, work, and daily lives in varying capacities. An ABIS must have previously worked as a Direct Support Professional, completed all the required training, and demonstrated all the knowledge, skills, and accountabilities of a DSP Level three. The ABIS position blends the DSP and clinical leadership roles. Clinical leadership under the supervision of the BIS includes educating team members on habilitation and Behavior Support Plans, assisting with clinical assessments, ensuring data collection, and providing direct feedback and education to all team members.
