About The Position

The Assistant Beacon Director at the Rockaway YMCA is responsible for the day-to-day administration and supervision of the Beacon Center, working closely with the Beacon Director. This role involves hiring, training, and supervising staff and volunteers, as well as developing and maintaining various programs that cater to the physical, recreational, and educational needs of participants. The Assistant Beacon Director plays a crucial role in ensuring program quality and compliance with various requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in developing and implementing youth programs.
• Knowledge of youth/adolescent growth and development.
• Demonstrated ability to relate to teens as a positive adult role model.
• Experience in marketing and budgeting skills.
• Ability to handle multitask activities.
• CPR, First Aid, AED Training.
• Computer skills.
• Experience in SACC Licensing Procedures.
• Availability during day times, Saturdays, and evenings as needed.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, develop, and supervise part-time employees and volunteers.
• Evaluate program staff and provide staff orientation and professional development.
• Develop and maintain the implementation of Beacon Center Programs, including After School and Teen Programs.
• Monitor purchases and inventory of program equipment and supplies.
• Prepare and monitor program budgets, payroll, and other management tasks as required by the Director.
• Participate in various meetings related to Beacon Program and branch activities.
• Maintain registration, attendance, surveys, and comply with SACC, DOE, DOH, and DYCD requirements.
• Ensure timely input of data in relevant systems and submit reports as needed.
• Participate in branch events and organize special events as a staff liaison with School Administration.
• Supervise Sub-Contracted Programs and assist in developing the DYCD Beacon Advisory Board.
