About The Position

Wabash College, a NCAA Division III institution and member of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC), seeks a passionate and dedicated Assistant Baseball Coach to join our athletic staff. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a program that values excellence, character, and academic rigor. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities The Assistant Baseball Coach assists with all aspects of the men's baseball program, including recruiting qualified student-athletes, planning and leading practices, providing on-field instruction and player development, supporting student-athlete well-being and academic success under the guidance of the Baseball Coach.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of competitive baseball techniques, rules, and strategies.
  • Strong commitment to the academic success and holistic development of student-athletes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and use of administrative systems required.
  • Ability to collaborate with the college community, including senior management, faculty and staff members, students, volunteers, and third-party business partners and vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous experience playing or coaching intercollegiate baseball.
  • Familiarity with NCAA rules and regulations and Division III recruiting practices and compliance standards.
  • Prior experience recruiting student-athletes at the collegiate level.
  • Pitching background or experience working with pitchers in player development, coaching or competition.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, games, workouts, and player development sessions.
  • Recruit academically and athletically qualified student-athletes who contribute to the mission and values of Wabash College.
  • Provide technical, tactical, and positional instruction to support player growth and performance.
  • Demonstrate the highest commitment to student-athlete health, safety, academic success, and overall well-being.
  • Support program operations including travel arrangements, equipment management, scouting, and game preparation needs.
  • Uphold and enforce institutional, conference, and NCAA Division III rules, regulations, and compliance standards.
  • Serve as a positive mentor and role model, fostering discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director.
