Responsibilities

  • Maintains an enthusiastic, customer‑focused environment with fast and friendly service.
  • Assists customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation recommendations.
  • Engages in suggestive selling through telephone, in‑store intercom, and one‑on‑one interactions.
  • Answers incoming calls promptly; resolves customer concerns and escalates to the Store Director when appropriate.
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of all department roles, assisting with preparation, baking, decorating, and product displays.
  • Implements efficient product preparation, packaging, and presentation techniques.
  • Maintains bakery case cleanliness, visual appeal, and adequate inventory levels.
  • Ensures all product temperatures are properly maintained during preparation, display, and storage.
  • Builds displays, rotates stock, and removes outdated or spoiled items.
  • Assists with scheduling, supervising, training, and directing department employees.
  • Helps plan daily department operations, monitoring production processes in alignment with company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Understands and executes opening and closing procedures for the department.
  • May participate in sales meetings and communicate sales goals, performance expectations, and opportunities to the team.
  • Controls inventory levels to maintain product quantity, quality, and freshness per division directives.
  • Stocks, rotates, and organizes product; maintains a clean and organized cooler environment.
  • Assists with physical inventory conducted every four weeks.
  • Ensures accurate code dating practices throughout the department.
  • Implements effective seasonal and promotional displays.
  • Performs receiving duties, including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
  • Follows correct temperature, storage, packaging, and handling procedures to comply with safety and quality standards.
  • Completes all required administrative paperwork and maintains accurate department records.
  • Ensures compliance with labeling regulations, department standards, temperature guidelines, and company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Maintains a clean, sanitized, and safe bakery work area, equipment, and display spaces.
  • Ensures adherence to all workplace safety regulations.
  • Uses department equipment properly and safely.
  • Controls shrink and cost through correct product handling and storage techniques.
  • Accurately completes and monitors required daily logs, Production Charts, sales reports, labor records, and other departmental paperwork.
  • Supports preparation of sales and inventory reports as required.
