Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast and friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via telephone, intercom, and in‑person interaction.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately.
  • Receive, address, and resolve customer complaints, reporting issues to the Store Director when necessary.
  • Maintain specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees and assist in all areas of preparation, baking, decorating, and product display.
  • Implement proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques.
  • Maintain Bakery case cleanliness, product visual appeal, and inventory levels.
  • Ensure temperatures are properly maintained during preparation, display, and storage.
  • Understand and follow proper opening and closing procedures.
  • Build displays, rotate stock, and discard outdated or spoiled product.
  • Ensure the department and work areas remain clean, safe, and sanitary.
  • Ensure proper code dating of all products in the department.
  • Follow and maintain all department standards and company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Stock and rotate product; maintain and organize coolers.
  • Assist in preparing sales and inventory reports.
  • Assist with physical inventory conducted every 4 weeks.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting product quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
  • Follow product temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines.
  • Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
  • Accurately complete and monitor daily log sheets, Production Charts, Sales and Labor paperwork, and other required documentation.
  • Control shrink and cost.
  • Assist with scheduling, supervising, training, and assigning duties to department employees.
  • Help ensure adequate staffing levels and proper service coverage.
  • Assist in planning daily operations and monitor production processes in accordance with company procedures and profitability goals.
  • May attend and participate in sales meetings and communicate sales goals, department performance, and sales opportunities to the team.
