Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation recommendations.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls; resolve customer complaints and escalate to the Store Director when needed.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques (telephone, intercom, and in‑person).
  • Demonstrate full working knowledge of all department duties, including preparation, baking, decorating, and product display.
  • Implement proper and efficient product preparation, packaging, and merchandising techniques.
  • Build displays, rotate stock, and discard outdated or spoiled products.
  • Maintain appealing, clean, and properly stocked bakery cases.
  • Ensure correct product temperatures during preparation, storage, and display.
  • Follow all opening and closing procedures for the department.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards throughout bakery areas and equipment.
  • Control inventory to ensure adequate quantity, quality, freshness, and compliance with division directives.
  • Stock, rotate, and organize product, including maintaining an orderly cooler.
  • Ensure proper code dating procedures are followed for all products.
  • Perform receiving duties: break down loads, verify invoices, inspect quality, report shortages, rotate and stock product.
  • Follow product temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines.
  • Accurately complete, maintain, and monitor required paperwork including: Daily log sheet Production chart Sales and labor reports Inventory documentation Other required department logs
  • Prepare or assist with sales and inventory reports.
  • Assist with physical inventory conducted every 4 weeks.
  • Maintain accurate department records and process administrative paperwork.
  • Ensure shrink and department costs are controlled.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Assist with scheduling, supervising, training, and assigning duties to department employees.
  • Help plan daily operations and monitor production processes per company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Assist with scheduling staffing to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Support implementation of effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • May attend and participate in sales meetings; may communicate sales goals, department performance, and sales opportunities to staff.
