The Assistant Attorney II is a professional position that answers to the Director, Division Chief or any Senior Attorney, depending on the assignment and provides a variety of legal services, which may be civil, traffic, administrative, or criminal law related. The incumbent assists the Director of Law in providing legal counsel and representation to the City and its various departments, agencies, boards, officials and employees. The Assistant Attorney II provides legal research, as well as renders both oral and written legal opinions. May be required to provide representation at administrative tribunals, and before municipal and state common pleas and appeal courts, including both jury and non-jury matters. Handles plea negotiations and settlements of civil cases, controversies and claims. The Assistant Attorney II is responsible for drafting memorandum, pleadings, briefs, contracts, ordinances, resolutions, legislation proposals, leases, deeds, purchase agreements and administrative regulations and policies on behalf of the City. Incumbent is expected to stay informed of municipal, criminal, and any related fields of law and fulfill all Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements.
