About The Position

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is seeking a highly motivated attorney to join her team as an Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Attorney General’s Trial Division within the Government Bureau. The Assistant Attorney General will represent and defend the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, its agencies, and employees in a wide variety of civil lawsuits, including tort, contract, erroneous convictions, eminent domain, employment, and civil rights cases. The Assistant Attorney General will maintain an active caseload, including assuming responsibility for drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, taking and defending depositions, preparing and arguing dispositive motions, and trying cases in the superior and federal courts. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. The Attorney General’s Office is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Requirements

• Must be a member of the Massachusetts bar.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must have access to reliable transportation or have a valid driver's license, as travel may be required to various courts, clients, opposing party locations, and law offices.
• The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment and a connection to the people and communities we serve.

Nice To Haves

• At least five (5) years of civil litigation experience, including experience in at least one of the following substantive areas is preferred: tort, contracts, land use, eminent domain, civil rights, or employment litigation.
• Experience managing a large and varied caseload, preferred.
