About The Position

Requirements

• Graduation from an ABA-accredited law school and active licensure to practice law in Minnesota (or ability to obtain licensure within 90 days of hire).

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills for effective interaction with clients and stakeholders.
• Proven ability to multitask and manage an active caseload or multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Nice To Haves

• One or more years of civil litigation experience encompassing all stages.
• Experience using electronic files, systems, and case management tools.
• Previous experience in public sector work or representation.

Responsibilities

• Represent DHS in state and federal courts, as well as administrative agency appeals.
• Handle all aspects of civil litigation, including initial pleadings, discovery, motion practice, mediation, trial, and appeal.
• Collaborate with attorneys within the division and at DHS.
• Argue cases at the Minnesota Court of Appeals, Minnesota Supreme Court, and Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals.
• Appear in evidentiary hearings and trials in various forums.
