About The Position

Cornell College Athletics Department is seeking additional support to help our athletic trainers through the end of the year. We are looking to provide safe, high quality care to student-athletes and support a positive athletic experience. As we prepare for a busy season of practices, games and special events we are seeking reliable PRN staff to assist our certified athletic trainers. PRNs will assist our certified athletic trainers with coverage of practices and athletic events to ensure smooth event operations, athlete safety and efficient sideline management. This is an as-needed role ideal for individuals interested in sports medicine, athletic training, kinesiology, or related fields. The current sports we are looking for help in are M/W Tennis, M/W Lacrosse, Baseball, Softball, and track and field. Practices are in the afternoon, and games can take place in the afternoon on weekdays and on weekends. Requirements

  • CPR/AED Certification
  • Basic first aid knowledge
  • Ability to stand for long periods and work outdoors
  • Ability to tape and wrap athletes
  • Strong communication skills and team oriented attitude
  • Dependable, professional, and punctual

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in athletics, kinesiology, or sports medicine
  • Prior experience working with college athletes or high school athletes
  • Evening and weekend availability
  • Specific dates that are needed are available upon request

Responsibilities

  • Help prepare teams with pre-practice/game modalities and taping
  • Evaluate athletes' injuries during events
  • Determine, if necessary, return to event
  • Support injury documentation
  • Help manage hydration stations, equipment, and sideline logistics
  • Communicate effectively with athletes, coaches, and medical staff
  • Maintain a safe environment and follow established protocols
