About The Position

This is a regular, full-time, salaried, exempt and benefit-eligible staff position at the Main Campus in Edmond, OK. The general schedule for this position is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with some nights and weekends required. The position involves conducting initial assessments of athletes' injuries or illnesses, providing emergency or continued care, and determining the need for referrals to physicians. Responsibilities include evaluating athletes' readiness to play, applying protective devices, and collaborating with team physicians to develop rehabilitation programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training.
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Current certification by the NATA.
  • Current CPR/AED/Professional Rescuer certification.
  • Must possess or be eligible for Oklahoma State Athletic Training License within 30 days of employment.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience in intercollegiate athletic training.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments of an athlete's injury or illness.
  • Evaluate athletes' readiness to play and provide participation clearances.
  • Apply protective or injury preventive devices to body parts.
  • Assess and report the progress of recovering athletes to coaches or physicians.
  • Collaborate with team physicians to develop and implement rehabilitation programs.
  • Responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries and illnesses sustained by UCO student athletes.
  • Adhere to emergency action plans during emergency situations.
  • Provide in-season and off-season sport coverage as assigned.
  • Counsel and educate UCO student athletes regarding injuries.
  • Assist in oversight of athletic training annual budget.
  • Coordinate pre-participation physical exams with team physicians and coaches.
  • Create and maintain student athlete files.
  • Coordinate scheduling of medical coverage for competitions.
  • Assist with recruitment of student assistants and graduate assistant athletic trainers.
  • Monitor graduate students performing internships.
  • Work closely with university compliance staff to ensure student-athlete eligibility.
  • Utilize electronic injury tracking software to document injury/treatment progression.
  • Communicate clearly with student athletes, coaches, administrators, and physicians.
  • Supervise and maintain documentation for Graduate Athletic Training Education Program students.
  • Ensure adherence to NCAA, Conference, and University regulations.
  • Report any NCAA violations to the NCAA Compliance Office.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
