About The Position

The Assistant Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive athletic training services to the players. This includes injury prevention, assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and management of player health and wellness. The Assistant Athletic Trainer works under the supervision of the Head Athletic Trainer to ensure the athletes are physically prepared and recover from any injuries to optimize their performance on the field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer, current NATA certification and in good standing.
  • Current or eligible for State Licensure.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a High Level sports environment, including professional, collegiate, or military based.
  • Ability to acquire or produce and maintain a valid driver's license and meet company vehicle driving standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Athletic Training or related field.
  • Experience in high level soccer preferred.
  • Prefer certification: CSCS, PES, LMT, and/or NREMT, Certified Performance Sport Specialist (CPSS)

Responsibilities

  • Performs as Certified Athletic Trainer in managing the health care of players, including first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, and application of appropriate modalities.
  • Develops rehabilitation and prevention programs, conducts rehabilitation, and makes medical referrals.
  • Orders, maintains, and inventories supplies and clinical equipment.
  • Keeps the training room and clinic area safe, clean, and organized.
  • Provides medical assistance to the Head Athletic Trainer.
  • Complies with all MLS medical policies and protocol.
  • Complies with OSHA Standards with regards to blood borne pathogens.
  • Participates in community service/educational programs related to sports medicine.
  • Assists the Colorado Rapids Development Academy program.
  • Participates in activities, meetings, and programs as required.
