About The Position

The Assistant Athletic Trainer will support the Sports Medicine Department at California State University, Northridge, under the supervision of the Associate Athletic Director for Health and Wellness, Team Physicians, and the Director of Athletics. This role focuses on the prevention, assessment, and care of sports-related injuries, while also providing coverage for athletic practices and events, including evenings and weekends. The position emphasizes a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion within the athletic community.

Requirements

• Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology, or a related field.
• Completion of the Board of Certification (BOC) curriculum requirements.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a certified athletic trainer, preferred.
• Current NATABOC Certification and CPR with AED Certifications.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree in athletic training, physical education, kinesiology, or related field of study, preferred.
• Athletic training experience with both women's and men's teams.
• Classroom or clinical teaching experience in an accredited undergraduate curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation of the Sports Medicine Department within Intercollegiate Athletics.
• Screen, prevent, and care for sports-related injuries and conditions.
• Cover athletic practices and contests, including evening and weekend assignments.
• Maintain updated files and accurate medical records of athletic injuries, medical insurance, and conditioning programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
