About The Position

Louisiana State University Health Science Center in New Orleans is seeking applicants for an Assistant/Associate Professor as faculty in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department. This is a full-time position in the tenure or clinical-track at an Assistant or Associate Professor level to be based in New Orleans. The OMS department’s primary responsibility is the training and development of surgical trainees providing didactic instruction, clinical supervision for residents, externs, medical and dental students in the LSU School of Dentistry, affiliated hospital clinics, ORs, as well as meeting the OMS treatment needs of the community. Our 6-year integrated OMS – MD residency program is regarded as one of the busiest and best CODA accredited training programs in the country. The department has a long history of recruiting quality students/residents and graduating top-rated clinicians. Candidates will also have the option to participate in the Faculty Practice, provide call coverage at our level 1 trauma University Medical Center New Orleans, affiliated hospitals, and LSU School of Dentistry. Salary/rank commensurate with experience/qualifications. A past record of scholarly activity is desirable, and the pursuit of scholarly activity is expected. Numerous opportunities for collaboration exist within the school of dentistry and the LSU Health Science Center at New Orleans. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated evidence of a strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, leadership, patient care, service, and scholarship. Proficiency with facial trauma surgery is critical. Preference will be given to those with special interest in orthognathic and/or temporomandibular joint surgery. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
