About The Position

The Department of Physical Therapy is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant or associate professor for its accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The position is a nine-month appointment beginning in the 2019/2020 academic year (beginning in August 2019). The individual must have a terminal academic doctorate (Ph.D. Ed.D. D.H.Sc., D.Sc., Sc.D.) in physical therapy or a related field of study. Individuals who are ABD with a confirmed completion date within 6 months may be considered but would be hired at the rank of Instructor. Faculty will have access to a fully equipped motion analysis lab containing an 8-camera Vicon Bonita optical motion capture system, AMTI force plate, NeuroCom Balance Trainer, Sonosite M- Turbo and Prometheus Group ultrasound units, and Noraxon wireless EMG .

Requirements

• The individual must have a terminal academic doctorate (Ph.D. Ed.D. D.H.Sc., D.Sc., Sc.D.) in physical therapy or a related field of study.
• Individuals who are ABD with a confirmed completion date within 6 months may be considered but would be hired at the rank of Instructor.

Nice To Haves

• Initial licensure as a Physical Therapist, or eligibility to be licensed in Virginia is preferred.
• Priority will be given to candidates with expertise in biomechanics and academic experience in a Doctor of Physical Therapy program.
