Assistant/Associate Professor Sociology
About The Position
The Department of Social Sciences Studies at Bethune‐Cookman University invite applications for one (1) full‐time tenure‐track Sociology Assistant Professor Position or one (1) full-time Sociology Instructor Position to support the undergraduate program. The area of specialization is open, although preference will be given to applicants with experience in research methods (quantitative & qualitative), statistics, demography and sociological theory. Applicants will also be expected to assist in meeting the normal service needs of the department. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is preferable: research methods in sociology, demography, statistics in social science research, race/ethnicity and urban sociology, social stratification, and social welfare.
Requirements
- Excellence in teaching and service is required (For PhD faculty, a commitment to an active research agenda is also required).
- The successful candidate will teach four (4) to six (6) courses each semester.
- Regularly scheduled office hours are mandatory (10 hours per week minimum)
- M.A., M.S., (Instructor) / Ph.D. (or “ABD”) in Sociology (Assistant Professor)
Nice To Haves
- Online teaching experience is preferred, but is not required.
