About The Position

Jacksonville State University’s AACSB-accredited College of Business and Industry invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Project Management position in the Lyons & Company, Inc. Department of Management and Marketing, with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2026. The successful candidate will join a dynamic faculty committed to excellence in teaching, scholarly activity, and service to the university and the broader community. The successful candidate will be expected to teach project management as well as other Business courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels across multiple delivery formats. The candidate is also expected to engage in scholarly research and publish peer‑reviewed papers in their field, consistent with AACSB standards. In addition, the candidate will participate in service activities for the department, school, and university, as appropriate to their academic rank.

Requirements

  • Earned Ph.D., DBA, or ABD in Project Management, Information Systems, Business Administration, Management Science, Business Analytics, Operations Research, Engineering Management, or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited university by the start date.
  • Evidence of ability to teach at the college level.
  • Demonstrated potential for scholarly publications and research activities.

  • One-page teaching statement: A concise overview of the applicant’s teaching philosophy and instructional approach, including a brief summary of courses previously taught (with course titles, levels, modalities, and institutions) and a description of the courses they are prepared and willing to teach, especially in Project Management and related areas.
  • Research statement: A summary of the applicant’s research accomplishments, current projects, and future scholarly agenda that demonstrates potential for sustained productivity. Applicants are encouraged to include publication status details and research profiles (e.g., ORCID, Google Scholar, Scopus, or Web of Science).
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness, if available (evaluations, awards, etc.)
  • Unofficial transcripts: A copy of academic transcript(s) showing relevant degrees earned. Official transcripts will be required upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
  • Relevant experience in project management.
  • Proficiency in project management software and simulation tools.
  • A record of excellence in teaching and mentoring students.
  • Proven success in curriculum development and innovation.
  • Familiarity with online and hybrid course delivery.
  • A record of peer‑reviewed publications.

Responsibilities
