The Department of Nutritional Sciences at Auburn University invites applications for a 9-month tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with a research focus on bioactive dietary compounds and/or precision nutrition. This position is part of a strategic initiative to expand the department's research portfolio in the impact of food and the diet on human nutrition and to align with university-related initiatives. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a robust, externally funded research program that investigates nutrition science on physiological effects, mechanisms of action, translational potential of bioactive compounds, nutritional genomics, and/or personalized nutrition strategies. Research areas may include, but are not limited to, chronic disease prevention, nutrient-gene interactions, gut microbiome modulation, and metabolic health. The candidate's work should contribute to the advancement of human nutrition science and support the land-grant mission of Auburn University. This faculty member will also teach undergraduate and graduate courses, including Experimental Foods (lecture and laboratory), which focuses on the chemical, physical, and sensory properties of food through research and product development. Additionally, the faculty member will contribute to curriculum development to integrate emerging science with an understanding of how nutrient intake and individual variability influence health outcomes.
