About The Position

The Lewis School of Health and Life Sciences at Clarkson University invites applicants to apply for a part-time faculty position as an Assistant or Associate Professor (clinical-track or teaching-track). This appointment is for a part- time, 11-month position, starting in January 2026. The position is not tenurable, but includes a promotion path to Associate Professor and Professor ranks. This posting is for 1 part-time (50% FTE) position. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach graduate physical therapy courses in health systems and research. They may also mentor graduate student capstone projects. In addition, responsibilities will include advising students and service to the department, school, and university. The teaching load for this position is distributed across trimesters. Candidates must have a terminal academic degree preferably in public health, sociology, psychology, or other health related field; and / or a doctorate in physical therapy. The ideal candidate will have strong evidence of excellence in teaching at the graduate level and the ability to work in partnership with department chairs and program directors in continually improving the DPT curriculum to meet the needs of health sciences students.

Requirements

  • Possess a terminal academic degree in public health, sociology, psychology, or other health related field.
  • Possess a DPT degree and an APTA board certified clinical specialization and some clinical experience. Applicants without an APTA board certified clinical specialization but plans to do so will be considered.
  • Physical Therapists must be eligible for New York state PT licensure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication skills, motivation and enthusiasm to learn and mentor students.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse background and strengths.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 yrs. of academic or clinical teaching experience.
  • Strong evidence of excellence in teaching at the graduate level.
  • Experience of student advising, and supervision of student research or other capstone experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Teach health systems and research DPT courses as assigned.
  • Supervise student research projects.
  • Advise students.
  • Participate in departmental activities and service duties, including departmental meetings, recruitment activities, departmental outreach events.
  • Contribute to course and programmatic outcomes assessment and continuous curricular improvement.
  • Contribute as a member of the university community to institutional and professional service.
  • Research and other forms of scholarship are encouraged but not required for this position.
