About The Position

Benedictine College invites applications from professionals within the field of sports management or administration for a full-time faculty position within the department of Health, Wellness, and Exercise Science at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank (depending on experience) starting with the Fall 2026 semester. The department provides high quality education and career preparation by forming dynamic professional relationships with all their students, both in learning theory and providing practical application of material. The department currently consists of four full-time faculty members that support three academic majors: Exercise Science, Strength and Conditioning, and Athletic Healthcare. The new faculty member will be responsible for the current Sports Management track under the Exercise Science major.

Requirements

  • Earned master's degree in sport management or a closely related field
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in sports management

Nice To Haves

  • Terminal degree in sport management or a closely related field
  • Teaching experience at the college/university level
  • Evidence of collaboration and partnership with businesses and organizations in the sport industry
  • Evidence of experience working with collegiate athletics
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certification (American Red Cross or American Heart Association)

Responsibilities

  • Planning and implementation of 12 credits of program-specific and/or departmental core courses per academic semester
  • Identification and cultivation of partnerships with businesses and organizations in the sport industry
  • Updating current sports management curriculum
  • Collaboration with faculty in the School of Business and the department of Journalism and Mass Communication
  • Academic advising of department majors and minors
  • Engagement in appropriate faculty service at the departmental and college level
