About The Position

George Fox University and the Department of Social Work invite applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor for the Master of Social Work (MSW) program. The successful candidate will serve as an integral member of the Division of Health and Behavioral Science team, and have the primary responsibility of teaching, developing, and maintaining curriculum in areas of expertise as determined by the Program Director. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional in the field of Social Work to be a part of a well-established hybrid program that produces qualified social workers in the State of Oregon and surrounding states.

Requirements

  • Doctorate in Social Work (DSW or PhD) or a related field (ABD considered).
  • Master of Social Work from a CSWE-accredited program.
  • Minimum of two years of post-MSW clinical practice experience.
  • A commitment to the University's Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity .
  • A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees who represent various cultures, backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, political views, and expressions of Christian faith.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church.
  • In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Nice To Haves

  • Current OR state licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or eligibility for licensure in Oregon.
  • Previous teaching experience in higher education.
  • Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching 24 credits per academic year with assignments primarily in areas related to clinical practice or in courses determined by program needs.
  • Designing, updating, and maintaining high-quality curriculum within areas of expertise.
  • Serving as an academic advisor, supporting the academic and professional development of MSW students.
  • Contributing to committee service within the program, department, university, and the profession.
  • Demonstrating ongoing scholarly achievement and research expertise through publications/presentations/grants/ and/or service-related activities.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
