About The Position

Oregon State University - Cascades is seeking a full-time Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice in Education to teach graduate and undergraduate courses, advise students, and engage in service and scholarship within the Bachelor of Science of Teaching and Masters of Arts in Teaching programs. The role emphasizes promoting equity, inclusion, and diversity while collaborating with local educational institutions and stakeholders. The incumbent will contribute to the mission of developing change agents in education, focusing on innovation and social justice.

Requirements

  • Doctoral Degree (D.Ed, Ph.D or terminal degree) in a relevant field.
  • Current or previous K-12 teaching license.
  • Three to five years' K-12 teaching experience in U.S. public schools.
  • Experience preparing, teaching, supervising, and/or supporting teacher candidates at the four-year college/university level.
  • Demonstrated understanding of contemporary perspectives on elementary grades teaching and learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years' experience teaching in elementary grades.
  • Demonstrated area of emphasis in a content area relevant to elementary education.
  • Ability to teach content area methods courses such as language arts, mathematics, social studies, and/or ESOL.
  • Experience with and understanding of the ORTPA /EdTPA teacher performance assessments.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver courses in various formats including ecampus, hybrid, and campus-based.
  • Supervise teacher candidates in field placements and provide timely feedback on assignments.
  • Develop and modify curriculum for courses to engage and challenge students.
  • Participate in advising and mentoring students.
  • Engage in scholarship activities that contribute to effective program delivery and updates.
  • Attend faculty meetings and participate on college and/or university service committees.
