About The Position

The University of Arizona College of Veterinary Medicine (UA-CVM) is seeking a faculty member for a position focused on veterinary anatomic pathology. The primary responsibility of this role is to teach anatomic pathology within both pre-clinical and clinical curricula, while also engaging in diagnostic service duties at the Arizona Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (VDL). The position emphasizes an inclusive and evidence-based approach to education, aiming to develop career-ready veterinarians who are skilled problem-solvers and lifelong learners.

Requirements

  • DVM/VMD degree (or international equivalent).
  • Advanced training in veterinary anatomic pathology.
  • Eligibility for ACVP or ECVP board certification in veterinary anatomic pathology.

  • Prior experience in teaching a diverse range of students using active learning techniques.
  • Board certification in veterinary anatomic pathology (ACVP or ECVP).
  • Prior experience in diagnostic pathology.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with faculty and staff in developing and delivering the diagnostic pathology rotation for clinical year students.
  • Conduct gross necropsy examinations and histologic evaluations to determine causes of death or disease.
  • Interpret necropsy examination results alongside other laboratory results.
  • Report necropsy findings to laboratory clients both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborate with faculty to ensure integration of general and anatomic pathology in the curriculum.
  • Deliver curriculum content using Team-Based Learning and Peer Instruction pedagogy.
  • Create opportunities for student engagement and learning through anatomic pathology experiences.
  • Be accessible to students for office hours and scheduled meetings to assist with learning.
  • Engage in ongoing assessment and professional development.
  • Participate in shared governance and academic/professional society meetings.
