About the position

George Fox University's announces a tenure track, full-time assistant/associate professor position (10-month appointment) in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The Doctor of Physical Therapy program seeks a core faculty member whose expertise and training will make them successful in being the primary instructor in the Neurorehabilitation I and II courses, leading the Clinical Integrated Experience courses, and having a scholarly activity around these topics. The individual in this faculty position will be responsible for leading research, teaching, and service projects. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic to teach and generate research in their area of expertise - Neurorehabilitation.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as lead instructor for Neurorehabilitation I and II courses.
  • Leading and coordinating the Clinical Integrated Experience courses.
  • Participating in scholarly activity, including supervising students within the professional research course series.
  • Participating and contributing to University and Departmental Services.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • An earned academic doctorate (e.g., PhD, DSc, EdD) or are currently pursuing a terminal degree.
  • A defined area of scholarship in rehabilitation is required, as demonstrated by previous publications and/or presentations.
  • The ability to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers.
  • A commitment to working with a diverse population of students; demonstrated experience in this area is preferred.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church.

Nice-to-haves

  • A board certification in neurologic physical therapy (NCS).
  • An active license as a physical therapist and be eligible for licensure in Oregon.
  • Academic teaching experience and/or professional lecturing experience.
