About The Position

The Assistant or Associate Professor of Music, Director of Choral Activities at Bemidji State University is responsible for leading the choral program, conducting various vocal ensembles, and teaching undergraduate courses in choral studies. Requirements

• Terminal degree or ABD in choral conducting from a nationally accredited institution at the start of employment.
• Evidence of success in choral conducting, teaching, and performance.

• Record of success in choral ensemble and program development.

• Completed doctorate in choral conducting from a nationally accredited institution.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Director of Choral Activities, conducting The Bemidji Choir, Chamber Singers, and Musikanten Tenor, Baritone and Bass Choir.
• Coordinate and collaborate with choral faculty and ensembles, such as Bel Canto Treble Choir.
• Plan and implement tours and major choral concert events.
• Teach undergraduate courses in choral studies, including conducting, choral literature, and choral composition/arranging.
• Collaborate with colleagues on performances across the department of music.
• Contribute to a program of passionate performance and excellence of scholarship within the discipline, including student advising and service to the university and community.
• Assist with programmatic accreditation.
