About the position

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is seeking a non-tenure track faculty member to join the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Prescott Campus. The successful candidate will teach classes and support the Aerospace Engineering department by providing opportunities for AE students to take ME capstone in off-cycle semesters. This position is available in Fall of 2025 at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level. The Mechanical Engineering program offers three tracks: Energy, Propulsion, and Robotics, and the department is particularly interested in candidates with industry experience in the propulsion or energy sectors. Candidates with a strong background in engineering design and product development are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full course load each semester.
  • Support the Aerospace Engineering department by providing opportunities for AE students to take ME capstone in off-cycle semesters.
  • Mentor and collaborate with students on research and student projects.
  • Perform applied research.

Requirements

  • An earned Doctorate in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is desired.
  • Significant industry experience and a Master's degree are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interest and ability to teach undergraduate courses and laboratories.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills, and a strong command of the English language.

Nice-to-haves

  • Industry experience in the propulsion or energy sectors.
  • Strong background in engineering design and product development.
