Job Summary: The Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual to join our faculty as an Assistant/Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. This position involves contributing to the education of osteopathic medical students while actively participating in clinical practice, research/scholarly activities, and service within the Primary Care department. Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant/Associate Professor of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics shall perform the following duties under the direction of the Department Chair of Primary Care and the Associate Dean of Clinical Sciences:

  • Provide didactic and clinical instruction to medical students in the field of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
  • Provide lectures to medical students in the teaching discipline.
  • Develop and implement curriculum components related to Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
  • May serve as a Clerkship Director or Course Director.
  • Mentor and advise medical students.
  • Participate in clinical practice at our teaching clinics.
  • Provide comprehensive patient care to individuals across the lifespan, encompassing both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and students on research projects.
  • Contribute to the advancement of medical knowledge in the fields of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
  • Serve on departmental and college committees.
  • Engage in community outreach and service initiatives.
  • Interview applicants for the D.O. program.
  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) or Medical Doctor (MD) degree
  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics.
  • Eligibility for licensure in the state of Alabama.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Dedication to teaching and mentorship.
  • Capacity for research and scholarly activities.
  • Experience in medical education and curriculum development.
  • Previous academic experience in an osteopathic institution or other medical college with experience working in an integrated curriculum.
