About The Position

The Department of Psychiatry and Health Behavior, in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University is seeking a faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to serve as a certified/board eligible Internal/Family Medicine Provider, to join us through the Partnership with AU and DBHDD (Georgia Dept of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities) deployed to East Central Regional Hospital. This position will serve the community through the partnership by providing clinical care to patients in an in-patient setting. The East Central Regional Hospital campus is located on 310 acres and operates a 260 licensed, accredited inpatient bed unit in three major program areas: Adult Mental Health, Forensic Services, and Developmental Disabilities. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Requirements

  • MD, DO, MBBS or equivalent. Training in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine. Must be Board-eligible or Board-Certified in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.
  • Associate Professor- Mid level career faculty member with at least five years at rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience.
  • Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be: Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation; Evidence of ability as a teacher; Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned; Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and, Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care to patients equivalent to 90% of the work commitment at East Central Regional Hospital
  • In the course of providing clinical care to ECRH patients engage in clinical supervision with MCG fellows, residents and students
  • Expand academics and training for family medicine at ECRH
  • Attend at least 80% of departmental meetings and Grand Rounds
  • Maintain licensure and certifications required for appointment and credentialing with Augusta University
  • Complete all training for Augusta University and DBHDD quarterly, bi-annually, or annually
  • promoting a customer-friendly environment and providing superior service to our patients, students, faculty, and employees
