Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance (tenure-track) at its Detroit campus location. The Department of Finance at Wayne State University's Mike Ilitch School of Business is seeking to fill a (tenure-track) faculty position for Fall 2026.
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in Finance or a related field is required.
- Doctoral students in their final year will be considered but must complete their Ph.D. by August 2026.
- Some prior teaching experience.
Nice To Haves
- Candidates who have proven records or a clear indication of the ability to publish in the very best finance journals.
- While we will consider all types of researchers, we have some preference for candidates conducting research in the area of investments.
- Candidates who have taught or are interested in teaching Fixed Income Securities, Futures and Options, and a course in Data Analytics.
- Candidates who could serve as course coordinator for a core MBA course in the Finance Department.
- Candidates who have mentored, or show the promise of successfully mentoring, doctoral students.
Responsibilities
- Teach 2 (per semester) undergraduate/graduate courses in Finance Department.
- Manage assessment and Student progress with a Learning Management System (Canvas).
- Maintain and adapt curriculum that is current, effective, and appropriate to course and program competencies. Instruct students in a classroom, online, and/or hybrid setting.
- Instruct students in a classroom, online (both synchronous and asynchronous modes) and/or hybrid setting.
- Provide meaningful service to the College, University, and the academic discipline.
- Publish in top-tier finance journals.
- Actively participate in the Finance doctoral program.
