About The Position

Westfield State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant / Associate Professor position in the Department of Computer and Information Science, beginning in the Fall of 2025. The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in Computer Science and Computer Information Systems, advising students, and participating in departmental meetings and events. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education and possess a broad potential for excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.

Requirements

• Earned doctorate degree in a relevant field (ABD candidates will be considered).
• At least 2 years of prior teaching experience in higher education.
• Industry experience with software development.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge and expertise in computer security.
• Experience in data science, machine learning, and data mining techniques, including familiarity with tools like Python, TensorFlow, and Scikit-learn.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses in the Computer Science and Computer Information Systems programs.
• Demonstrate knowledge and experience in data structures and algorithms, software engineering, database management, application development, web programming, and computer networking.
• Teach programming languages such as C/C++, Java, and Python.
• Act as an advisor to students enrolled in the programs.
• Participate in departmental meetings and events.
