Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical – Surgery, Surgical Oncology
About The Position
The Division of Surgical Oncology at the University of Miami, Leonard Miller School of Medicine has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical fellowship trained surgeon to join our surgical team. We have a strong multidisciplinary group that works to provide high quality clinical care and access to cutting edge clinical trials. The Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center is the only NCI-designated cancer center in South Florida and is focused on innovation in cancer care. The incumbent will work closely with the Chief of Surgical Oncology to continue to support the oncology service line.
Requirements
- Board certified in surgery, be able to obtain and maintain a valid DEA Registration and Florida Medical License, and an ACGME approved surgical oncology fellowship
- Possess personal and professional integrity and the highest ethical standards that can be a model for faculty, staff, students and residents
Nice To Haves
- 3 – 5 years post fellowship clinical experience in the field of HIPEC, preferred
Responsibilities
- Participation in clinical, research and educational activities as they relate to the Division of Surgical Oncology and the Department of Surgery with a special emphasis on leading and growing our nationally recognized HIPEC program
- Responsible for delivering care of Surgical Oncology patients at the University of Miami Hospital, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Jackson Memorial Hospital.
- In collaboration with the Division Chief, will be part of implementing the Division's strategic plan which sets forth clinical, financial, educational and research divisional objectives to support and complement the mission statement of the Department, the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the affiliated Hospitals
- Participate in all divisional activities, perform patient care activities for surgical oncology patients, develop an independent practice and become involved in teaching medical students, residents and fellows
- Responsible for pursuing research protocols and/or grants, secure independent funding and be an integral part of the academic enterprise in the Division of Surgical Oncology and at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center
- Work collaboratively with other departments to help to grow the surgical oncology research program
- Demonstrate a caring attitude and be able to fulfill service responsibilities in the most cost effective, customer friendly manner
