About The Position

George Fox University announces a full-time, teaching-track (non-tenure) faculty position in Civil Engineering, to begin in August 2025. We seek applicants with the ability to teach in a broad range of undergraduate civil engineering courses, giving priority to candidates with expertise in one or more of the following specializations: geotechnical, construction and/or transportation engineering. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in appropriate professional activities, supervise internships, advise students and carry out other faculty responsibilities.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field combined with professional experience in civil engineering.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellence in teaching.
  • A commitment to the University's Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity.
  • A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees who represent various cultures, backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, political views, and expressions of Christian faith.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church.
  • Agreement to live in accordance with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Nice To Haves

  • A registered P.E. in Civil Engineering.
  • Teaching experience at the college level.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching a broad range of undergraduate courses within the curriculum of the Department of Mechanical, Civil and Biomedical Engineering in areas such as geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, construction management, surveying, AutoCAD/Civil3D and engineering economics.
  • Developing and sustaining ongoing industry/professional relations, applied projects and internship experiences for undergraduates.
  • Participating in the work of the department and university including university committees as needed.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
