About The Position

The Occupational Therapy Department at Tennessee State University invites applications for a 12-month, tenure-track position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy. We seek applicants who have practice experience in adult outpatient rehabilitation. In addition, successful applicants will be competent in a secondary role of teaching/supervising students in the pro bono outpatient Tiger Clinic. Less frequent job responsibilities will include: student advising; curriculum review and development; program evaluation; student recruitment and admissions; participation in service and research activities. This opening offers the incumbent an opportunity to join the collegial faculty and staff at one of 7 OT programs housed in an Historically Black College/University (HBCU), and located along the Cumberland River just 10 minutes from the heart of downtown Nashville, TN. The OT Department is housed in the College of Health Sciences, which offers numerous opportunities for interprofessional collaboration and is housed in a state-of-the-art facility.

Requirements

  • Entry-level or Post-professional doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a combination of the following: bachelor's or master's degree in occupational therapy AND a doctorate in related field.
  • Currently licensed or eligible for TN occupational therapy license
  • Evidence of initial NBCOT certification. Current NBCOT certification is not required.
  • Teaching experience at the university level
  • At least 5 years of occupational therapy practice experience
  • A commitment to teamwork and student success.

Nice To Haves

  • Practice experience in adult outpatient occupational therapy and/or CHT credential
  • Experience supervising fieldwork students
