About The Position

McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston invites outstanding candidates for tenure-track roles in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. The department is particularly focused on recruiting new faculty at the Assistant Professor level, but applicants at an Associate Professor may also be considered. We aim to grow our research strengths across all areas of microbial sciences, with a special interest in candidates studying fundamental biological processes in prokaryotic or eukaryotic model systems.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. and/or M.D.
  • Postdoctoral experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven record of innovative research at the forefront of microbiology for Assistant Professor applicants.
  • Established, respected reputation and an extramurally funded research program for Associate Professor applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a rigorous, productive, and independent research program supported by externally sponsored projects.
  • Contribute to graduate and medical education.
  • Fund a minimum of 50% of salary using own sponsored project funds, three years from the initial appointment date.
  • Participate actively in the departmental academic activities.
