About The Position

The Assistant/Associate Professor of Entomology position at the Louisiana State University Agricultural Center is a tenure track, 12-month role focused on insecticide toxicology. The successful candidate will develop and conduct both applied and fundamental research on insecticide toxicology, studying the physiology, genetics, or chemistry/biochemistry of natural or synthetic toxicants affecting pestiferous and beneficial insects and other invertebrates. The role requires interaction with existing research programs within the Department of Entomology and the College of Agriculture. A strong publication record and the ability to acquire extramural funding from various sources is highly desirable. Additionally, the candidate will participate in graduate student training and teach graduate-level courses in Insecticide Toxicology and an upper-level undergraduate course of general interest to the Entomology Department or University community.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in Entomology, Biological Science, or a related discipline with emphasis on insecticide toxicology or biochemistry.
  • Commitment to pursue applied and fundamental research on insect pest problems.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with entomologists and scientists from other disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and conduct applied and fundamental research on insecticide toxicology.
  • Conduct research on the physiology, genetics, or chemistry/biochemistry of toxicants affecting insects.
  • Develop an innovative research program contributing to the understanding of toxicants.
  • Support existing research programs within the Department of Entomology and College of Agriculture.
  • Participate in graduate student training as a member of the Graduate Faculty.
  • Teach a graduate-level course in Insecticide Toxicology.
  • Teach an upper-level undergraduate course related to the Entomology Department.
