About The Position

The University of Cincinnati invites applications for a tenure-track/tenure Industrial Design faculty position in the top-ranked Myron E. Ullman, Jr. School of Design at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor. The primary mission of the College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) is the creation of a better cultural and design environment. The School of Design’s role in advancing that mission is to prepare undergraduate and graduate students to be responsible professionals and citizens in a complex and evolving world. The Industrial Design program is continually ranked among the highest in the world and is part of a tier-one research university. This academic tradition continually produces exceptionally talented/motivated undergraduate and graduate students. Requirements

  • Master's degree in Industrial Design or related field.
  • One year of industry experience in the field of Industrial Design or a related field.
  • For Associate Professor level, 5 academic years of university-level teaching experience in the field of Industrial Design or a related field post-qualifying degree.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching at the undergraduate level and potentially in the Master of Design program.
  • Maintaining an active research agenda/creative practice.
  • Serving on various School, College and/or University committees.
  • Developing and delivering course content, project supervision, and skill-based demonstrations.
  • Conducting and publishing research in Industrial Design or related fields.
  • Providing leadership in bridging the theory and practice of Industrial Design.
  • Mentoring faculty and/or students.
  • Evaluating student coursework and advising students.
