About The Position

The Department of Kinesiology in the College of Education and Human Development at Augusta University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Sports Management. The primary responsibilities will be teaching selected courses such as Sports Management, Sport Analytics, Management of Sport Organizations, Financial Management of Sports Organizations, Sports Law, Sports Event Planning, and Current and Emerging issues in Sports; developing and updating curriculum; teaching and advising undergraduate students in sports management program; engaging in scholarly activity and research; providing service to the department, college, university, community, and the profession. The position also requires advising, and mentoring students; developing and maintaining a scholarly research and publication agenda; and service to the academic unit and the College. We also encourage faculty to be active in soliciting external funding through grants and other sources.

Requirements

  • An earned doctorate in Sports Management, Sports Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Established research agenda and the ability to seek external funding.
  • For Assistant Professor: Evidence of research potential to achieve national/international recognition with further development. Beginning evidence of impact either in the knowledge-base or practice. Outstanding teaching characteristics.
  • For Associate Professor: At least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor or comparable training, background, and experience. Focused research and/or scholarship agenda representing a significant step towards national/international recognition. Evidence of outstanding teaching and substantial service.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an established Sports Management program.
  • Experience in developing curriculum and courses in the field of study.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching - 60%: Developing and updating curriculum. Teaching and advising undergraduate students in the Sports Management Program. Manage courses through systematic use of syllabi. Keep accurate records of students' class performance, attendance, and grades. Adopt and implement common course objectives. Attend faculty orientation prior to the beginning of the semester. Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes.
  • Scholarship and Research - 30%: Engaging in scholarly activity and research.
  • Service - 10%: Providing service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.
