The successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate level in support of the ABET accredited Engineering program with Biomedical Engineering concentration. ORU School of Engineering faculty members remain current within their academic discipline and engage students in undergraduate research in addition to teaching and other duties. Engineering faculty advise and mentor students, participate in all aspects of the school's activities, develop new courses and serve on various college and university committees.

Responsibilities

  • Engage students in research. Evidence of research and scholarly activities is highly desirable.
  • Successful candidate will be required to participate in professional activities to enhance student learning experience and willing to be involved in activities assigned by the School of Engineering Chair.
  • Responsible for teaching in the following areas: Introductory Biomedical Engineering, Biomaterials, Biomechanics, Biomedical Instrumentation, Mechanobiology, Technical Communications, or other engineering courses as assigned by the School of Engineering Chair.
  • Chapel attendance is required of all regular faculty members.
  • Attend all special faculty or University -wide meetings.
  • Serve on University-wide, college, and/or department committees.
  • Schedule and remain in an office for at least 7½ hours per week and to be available to students at other times by appointment.
  • Record student grades in the course D2L gradebook on a regular basis with the comprehensive grade-to-date visible to the enrolled student.
  • Participate in assessment activities related to their assigned classes, including assignment and rubric development, timely artifact assessment, and course/program improvement.
  • Assign, evaluate, and assess assignments for program assessment.
  • Engage students in academic advisement within the school.
  • Participate in commencement exercises.
  • Engage students in scholarly activity (e.g., research, publication), hold membership and participate in professional organizations, and attend professional conferences.
  • Report on professional development activities annually according to college-specific protocols to the department chair and/or college dean. This report must address how the faculty member will stay current in both subject area and pedagogy.
