The Associate Program Director assists the Program Director with administering and maintaining an educational environment, aligned with the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) Pathways to Excellence, conducive to educating residents/fellows in each of the ACGME competency areas. The position involves filling in for the Program Director when absent, mentoring, teaching, and evaluating medical students, interns, residents/fellows, and faculty. The Associate Program Director assesses learner competencies, assists in mediation and remediation, evaluates and manages medical patients in clinical learning environments, including GI Endoscopy, and conducts and promotes research and scholarly activities. The role upholds a commitment to the education of resident/fellow physicians in all competencies pertinent to the sub-specialty, serving as role models of professionalism. Additionally, the Associate Program Director contributes scholarly activities to help maintain national ACGME accreditation of the program and performs other duties as assigned.
